REV. DR. STEVEN B. DAVIS
Steven B. Davis was born and raised in Newark, N.J. The youngest child of the late Roosevelt and Ozzie Davis.
It was during his freshman year in High School that he was invited to a High School youth group called Conquerors Club at the Calvary Gospel Church in Newark, N.J.. It was at Conquerors Club that Steven heard and responded to the Gospel. A year later he felt called to go into the ministry.
Rev. Dr. Davis attended Covenant College, Lookout Mt. GA, Northeastern Bible College, Essex Fells, NJ and International Seminary, Plymouth, FL. He holds a Bachelor of Theology (Th.B), Masters of Theology (Th.M, candidate) and a Doctor of Divinity (D. D.) degrees.
Rev. Dr. Davis was Minister to Youth at the Calvary Gospel Church in Newark, NJ from 1977-1981. In 1981 he then accepted the position as Campus Minister at Norfolk State University, Norfolk, VA representing Tom Skinner Associates (A para-church organization committed to raising a new generation of leaders who are technically excellent and spiritually mature.). It was also in 1981 that He and his wife Denise became part of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Norfolk, VA. where he was later ordained as a Baptist minister (1984).
In 1985 Rev. Dr. Davis became the pastor of the Westminster Baptist Church, Norfolk, VA (The only African-American Southern Baptist Convention congregation in the entire Tidewater area.).
In 1993 Rev. Dr. Davis became only the “second pastor” of the Calvary Gospel Church, Newark, NJ.
Rev. Dr. Davis has been listed in: Who's Who in American Christian Leadership 1989, Who's Who in America in Religion, Marquis Who's who and Outstanding Young Man in America for the years 1982, 1987 and 1992.He has recently been selected as a trustee of the Baptist Theological Seminary in Richmond, VA. He sits (or has sat) on the Board of Directors of numerous organizations across the United States. Rev. Dr. Davis is the President of the Newark Police/Fire Department Clergy Chaplain Alliance Association (This ecumenical organization of more than 300 clerics work in cooperation with the Police and Fire department providing services, support and assistance to it’s officers, families and citizens of the city of Newark. Rev. Dr. Davis also sits on Mayor Cory A. Booker's (Newark, NJ) Cabinet of Religious Leaders. He is also an advisor to the Director of the Newark Housing Authority and the Superintendent of Schools.

He has produced and hosted the cable television show "Inner City Visions". The “Info-Fest” (Information Festival),( (a yearly outdoor event held in Newark, NJ) has been recognized by former Presdent Jimmy Cater, governors, and mayors in the state as well as many from the private and religious community and has had a tremendous impact on the city. Rev. Dr. Davis was also in the independent film "Newark Street Preachers" (2008)
Rev. Dr. Davis and his wife Denise have been married since 1976. They have three children, a "special daugther" Carrie Halstead who came into their lives during their time in Va. five grandchildren and an ever-growing family of “sons and daughter of the faith”.
Rev, Dr. Davis says: “ I pastor the greatest church I the northern hemisphere. I am supported by a family who on a daily basis demonstrates an unconditional love for others and myself. And for just those things alone I am blessed beyond all human measurement, thought or concept.”
